on the struggle and the community rallying around them. >> reporter: it was a raging house fire with smoke taking over the pennsauken neighborhood. flames shot of the two story home at young avenue and stowe road. >> i smelled it so strong like it was my own open. i live on bay avenue. i looked out my window and opened up the front door and all i saw was black. the fire sparked in the back of the home around 3:30 the fire station was a block away, but the strong winds carried the flames to the house. >> it compromises our hellos streams, you saw early on the exterior hose lines were fighting the wind along with the fire itself. >> reporter: the scene brought out a large crowd of neighbors. the family who lives here was away and uninjured but they made it back for a moment they will never forget.

"action news" has learned unlike this time this house survived another fire in 2006. the home belongs to a mother of a volunteer firefighters who happens to live across the street. he is battling stage four stomach cancer and lost his father to cancer two years ago. we were there as the community held a benefit for the son in november. neighbors say they are sure people will step up for the family again. >> i know for sure everybody will come together and put efforts for forth helping them. >> reporter: nobody was injured, but we know the family dog sophie the chihuahua didn't make it. the fire marshal is investigating the cause. reporting in pennsauken, kenneth moten channel 6 "action news." >> a go fund me page has been set up to help with donations for the family. we put the story on kenneth

moten's page at 6abc.com. hundreds of dollars portland in following the blaze but the family can use all the help they can get. new overnight, "action news" was there as motorcycle was deep into a ravine in montgomery county. the biker was thrown from the bike and seriously injured. he was trying to getaway from traffic officers on the boulevard. the crash happened at the intersection of west germantown pike and chemical road. the biker barreled through a parking lot before crashing. now, to the exclusive video you'll only see on "action news," a street race takes a tragic turn when a teenage boy is critically hurt in an atv crash. moments after impact bystanders rushed to the boy's side trying to save his life. this exclusive cell phone video captured the chaotic scene cobbs

creek parkway cobbs creek. two boys were on the blue atv racing another set of teens. the racers tried to get around a truck when the blue atv clipped a second atv and flipped. the driver was critically injured. members of a nearby church saw the scene arena started to help. two people were trauma nurses they started cpr. officials have not namedment teens involved. darby borough police officer mark hudson has been laid to rest. he dedicated his life to service and died allegedly at the hands of his girlfriend. annie mccormick has more. >> reporter: it was a send off for a man who dedicated his life to helping others. saturday at saint joseph's church in collingdale family friends and the community gathered to honor mark hudson. the family touched that brought

in police officers and firefighters from the delaware county. hudson was wounded while off duty. authorities say he was trying to break up with his girlfriend who allegedly shot arena killed him. finch faces charges including first and third degree murder. mark hudson died as a darby borough police officer but he started as a firefighter at the age of 16 in yeadon. >> legacy of community legacy of giving back. >> the chief of the fire department and the darby borough police took to the podium to share their memories. >> he was a shining example of a patrol officer and firefighter should be. confident, courageous, tenacious, tough brave, and he cared.

look at these gusts from yesterday. poconos, 52 miles per hour that's tropical storm force winds. atlantic city, 46. peak winds gusts in philadelphia 45. doylestown, 44 and allentown 40. we were wind whipped for certain yesterday. thankfullily the breezes -- thankfully the breezes relax today. the only question mark this is a small, little disturbance that could run the new york/pennsylvania state line. it could drop far enough south to bring showers north of the pennsylvania turnpike. i think most of us will stay dry. this little boundary layer this sets up the miserable weather for most of the upcoming week. this will collapse to the south. at the same time a serials of low pressure systems right here across deep south will push toward the northeast and both converge on the area.

injuries following an atv racing crash. we're showing you the frantic efforts to save the teenagers life. kenneth moten has more on what happened and what came to his rescue. >> reporter: this is exclusive smart are phone video following an atv crash that critically injured a 15-year-old boy in cobbs creek saturday afternoon. witnesses say the two boys were on the atv racing another set of teens on an all terrain vehicle on cobbs creek parkway. >> i heard a crash and i saw the atv tip over. >> the driver in the truck said the racer was trying to get around him when the blue atv clipped the back tire of the other and filmed. the boy on the back -- and flipped. the boy on the back was okay, the driver was not. members of a nearby church ran out to help. two were trauma nurses.

news." >> a shooting in delaware led to police chase that went through two states and ended with a crash in delaware county. it started in wilmington after 6:00 p.m. police say a man and woman were shot at second and monroe streets. the man has serious injuries. the woman is expected to be okay. police say the suspects drove on to i-95 and led officers into folsom pennsylvania. that's where police arrested two people after they crashed. closing arguments are set for tomorrow in the boston marathon bombing trial. attorneys for dzhokhar tsarnaev rested their case, they admitted participated in the bombings but argue his brother was the mastermind. injury will conduct deliberations immediately after. he faces the death penalty. in indiana hundreds marched in downtown indianapolis as basketball fans gathered for the final four. they are calling for i

kentucky have identified the woman who died after her car was swept into a flooded creek. they say 63-year-old lois mcgovern became stranded after getting stuck in high water. rescuers couldn't find her car because it was submerged in high water. hundreds attended easter vigil in israel at the site where christians believe christ was crucified and entombed. fidel castro was seen for the first time in more than a year. you can see castro sitting inside a vehicle as people reach in to shake his hand. castro turns 89 in august. his brother is cuba's current
